TRENT: Let's hope Mother Nature likes bowling

Open, women's city bowling tourneys are coming up.

Kokomo Tribune

---- — Do you know what 23 days from today is? Spring — yes, spring. You know, where the weather is supposed to be warm, sunny and the grass is green. How long has it been since we have seen that? A very, very long time!

I sure wish it would hurry up and get here. I am so over snow, cold and wind chill. Also, icy and snowy roads are not good, either.

The City of Firsts USBC Association’s city tournaments are starting next weekend and organizers sure don’t want that kind of weather, either. They have to worry about wet floors and the possibilities of cancelations or postponements of sessions, and having to get in touch of all those bowlers in time so there won’t be travel worries. Then with the weather we have been having, it could be snowing really badly in one area and five miles just south, no snow at all. So we may have someone who can’t get out and may have to arrange for them to bowl at another time. Let’s hope the weather cooperates and the tournament goes well.

The City of Firsts USBC Association would like to remind all of its members that the annual meeting will be held at 2 p.m. March 30 at the Elks on Lincoln Road. The new class of Hall of Fame members will be announced at this meeting and election of officers also will be held. The offices for the board that are up for election are president, second vice president, and five directors. If you are interested in one of these positions please contact Don Sparks at 765-438-0882. He will be able to get you an application. All applications must be turned in 24 hours before the annual meeting.

May 10 is a date that you need to mark on your calendar. That is the date of the Hall of Fame and Recognition Banquet. Let’s fill the banquet facility. The cost is $20 per ticket and it will be held at the Grotto on U.S. 931 N. Tickets will be available at the annual meeting and from all board members and bowling centers until May 1. I will announce the menu at a later date.

To everyone who is bowling in the open and women’s city tournaments, good luck and good scores!
