Sydney Zeck led the Tigers with 13 points and three assists. Whitney Zeck had 12 points and four steals and Brooke Treadway had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Jessie Sprinkles had a big game for the Comets, finishing with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Northwestern (8-9 overall) finished MIC play with a 5-2 record. Eastern dropped to 5-12 overall and 1-5 in the MIC.
Peru roared to the team title and had six individual champs — Shane Garretson (106), Connor Quin (120), Peyton Sturgill (138), Evan Loe (145), Danny Fisher (170) and Erik Hobbs (220).
Northwestern had a pair of champs — Owen O’Dell (152) and undefeated Luke Akers (160).
Maconaquah, which was the team runner-up, was led by 126-pound champ Chase Wilson.
Northwestern senior Amber Miller fared well in the Tigers’ season debut. She placed first on vault (9.225) and floor (8.45) and third on bars (7.3). She finished third in the all-around (31.575).
Northwestern coach Ashley Miller was pleased with her team’s performance.
”I thought they did really well for their first meet,” she said, noting the Tigers’ first two meets were cancelled, putting them behind other teams. “It didn’t look like [the Tigers] were missing out on their events or anything. There’s definitely room for improvement, which is great, but I was really happy with the way they performed.”
