City baseball, softball signups are set for Saturday

The final city-wide youth baseball and softball signups will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium at Central Middle School.

The city baseball leagues are Eastside, Northside, Southside and UCT, and is for players ages 4-12. Parents are asked to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate.

The Kokomo Girls Softball League is open to girls ages 6-12.

More postponements, cancellations for prep

Inclement weather led to another round of postponements and cancellations Tuesday.

The Tri-Central and Northwestern boys basketball game, already postponed a few times, was cancelled. The Trojans have no room on their schedule to make up the game. Two other boys basketball games were postponed and will be made up — Twin Lakes at Tipton (Feb. 12) and Tippecanoe Valley at Maconaquah (no new date set).

The Tri-Central at Eastern girls basketball game was postponed to Thursday. The West Lafayette at Northwestern girls game was cancelled. The Taylor-Hamilton Heights girls game was postponed to Saturday with a noon start.

Area officials set for girls sectionals

Fourteen KT-area basketball officials have earned assignments to work girls basketball sectionals next week.

In Class 4A, Camden’s Chad Myers is set for the Logansport Sectional and Tipton’s Jeffrey Heard will work at North Central.

In Class 3A, Kokomo’s Paul Williams and Zachary Barnes and Tipton’s Dean Martin are all part of the officiating lineup for the Western Sectional, Kokomo’s Pat Dumoulin will work at Bellmont and Kokomo’s Bob Walsh will work at Western Boone.

In Class 2A, Kokomo’s Robert Pruett is set for the Winamac Sectional, Kokomo’s Jim Newburn and Greentown’s Rob Cory will both work at Northfield, Kokomo’s Greg Cunningham will work at Elwood and Tipton’s Mike Cherry will head to Indianapolis Howe.
