It’s sectional week for girls basketball

Following a regular season seemingly chock-full of weather-related postponements and cancellations, girls basketball teams are set for the state tournament. Sectionals across the state open Tuesday with championship games on Saturday.

The following is a list of KT-area teams’ first games.

TUESDAY

6 p.m. — Tri-Central (9-9) vs. Rossville (1-17), at Rossville

7 p.m. — Tipton (13-4) vs. Eastern (5-15), at Elwood

7:45 p.m. — Carroll (12-5) vs. Frontier (5-13), at Rossville

7:45 p.m. — South Vermillion (3-14) vs. Clinton Central (3-16), at Southmont

WEDNESDAY

6 p.m. — Peru (6-11) vs. Northwestern (9-9), at Western

7:45 p.m. — Western (16-3) vs. Maconaquah (1-17), at Western

7:45 p.m. — Elwood (15-5) vs. Taylor (5-15), at Elwood

7:45 p.m. — Cass (8-11) vs. Northfield (11-7), at Northfield

FRIDAY

6 p.m. — Kokomo (11-8) vs. winner of Lafayette Jeff (1-19) vs. Marion (9-10)

Boys basketball set for very busy week

It’s a super busy week for boys basketball teams, with make-ups of games postponed last month sprinkled throughout the week, and games on Thursday night and Saturday afternoon to make room for girls sectional games on Friday and Saturday nights.

The following is this week’s area boys schedule. JV games start at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

SATURDAY

11 a.m. — W. Lafayette at Western

Noon — Eastern at Carroll

Noon — Rensselaer at Tipton

1 p.m. — Kokomo at McCutcheon

1 p.m. — Taylor at Elwood

1 p.m. — Cass at Wabash

1 p.m. — Maconaquah at Pioneer

1 p.m. — Hamilton Heights at Tri-Central

Middle school HCTs wrap up tonight

The middle school boys basketball Howard County Tournaments wrap up tonight at Taylor.

The sixth-grade final between Eastern and Western is set for 6 p.m. in the middle school gym. The seventh-grade final between Eastern and Western is at 6 p.m. in the high school gym.
