San Francisco adds veteran pitcher Hudson

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The San Francisco Giants and free-agent pitcher Tim Hudson have agreed to a $23 million, two-year contract.

Hudson had a physical Monday, and the team says the deal is pending the results of that examination.

The agreement brings Hudson back to the Bay Area, where he pitched for the Oakland Athletics as a member of the “Big Three” with Mark Mulder and Barry Zito beginning in the late 1990s.

The 38-year-old Hudson went 8-7 with a 3.97 ERA in 21 starts this season for Atlanta. His season was cut short by a broken right ankle that required surgery. The Braves earlier this month declined to make a qualifying offer to Hudson, who won 49 games during the previous three seasons.

Hudson is 205-111 in a 15-year career and was coming off a $36 million, four-year contract.

Andretti adds Munoz to 2014 IndyCar lineup

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Andretti Autosport will add Carlos Munoz to its IndyCar lineup next season.

Munoz will join Marco Andretti, James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay on the four-car team. Andretti said sponsorship will be announced for the Colombian at a later date.

Munoz made his IndyCar debut in the Indianapolis 500. He started from the front row and finished second.

Munoz won four Indy Lights races in 2013 and five poles driving for Andretti.
