---- — The City of Firsts USBC Association will hold its annual Hall of Fame and Scholarship Fund-raising Golf Tournament on May 3 at Wildcat Creek G.C. Proceeds benefit the scholarship and Hall of Fame funds. This year’s format has been changed to make it more interesting and fun. It won’t be so hard to get that little white ball in the hole because the golf course is going to make it large for you, too.
The outing has a start time of 10 a.m. The format is going to be “Las Vegas” Scramble (roll a dice to determine whose tee shot you must use after you teed off) and of course “Big Cup” (larger hole).
The entry fee this year is $200 per team ($50 per player) which is down from last year and includes green fee, cart, range balls and prizes. There will be different prizes on every hole such as closest to pin, long drive, putt, etc. Optional mulligans and skins game also will be available.
If you or someone you know would like to sponsor a hole, it is $50 per hole. Your business name or your name will appear on a hole and the proceeds from the sponsor also will go toward the scholarship and Hall of Fame funds.
For more information, contact Jon Kelley at 765-437-6185. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. on April 25.
I know there are a lot of golfers out there, so we should fill up this event and all should have a really fun time. Bring one friend or four — a good time and laughs is worth helping a child make their dreams come true by being able to attend college.
The Hall of Fame and Recognition Banquet is fast approaching and everyone needs to get their tickets as soon as possible. Tickets are $20 per person for a great meal catered by Five Star Catering and there will be a cash bar. Inductees this year are Trent Marner, Kim (Akers) Ciarlante, James (Jim) Robison, DiAnne Rickel and Cloyd Long. Scholarships also will be given away that evening. Tickets can be purchased from any City of Firsts USBC Association board member, bowling center or by contacting me at 765-271-4626.
Festivities will start at 5 p.m. with appetizers and a chance for everyone to meet and greet. Dinner will follow at about 6 p.m. Dinner will include a house salad, baked Swiss steak and chicken with creamy sauce topped with cheese and bread crumbs. The sides are mashed potatoes, buttered corn and California blend. Tea and lemonade will be the beverages along with the cash bar. There will also be several surprise desserts.
I will need a count of tickets by May 1 for the caterers, so there will be no walk-ins. So get your tickets now.
We want to honor the Class of 2014 Hall of Famers and scholarship winners with a full hall. They mean a lot to our sport.
