Crawford, Persons earn all-state honors

Tipton’s Mike Crawford and Kokomo’s Tayler persons headlined the local selections to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway All-State teams, which were announced Thursday.

Crawford was one of 15 players selected to the senior first team. The 6-foot-5 Saint Louis recruit averaged 27.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this season, leading Tipton to a 25-3 record and its third straight Class 2A regional title.

Persons earned a nod to the underclass first team. The junior wing averaged 17.4 points and 5.7 rebounds this season, leading Kokomo to a 22-3 record and its third straight Class 4A sectional crown.

Northwestern’s Trenton Brazel, Maconaquah’s Micah Pier and Kokomo’s LaBradford Sebree earned honorable-mention nods to the senior all-state squad.

Kokomo’s Erik Bowen, Cass’ Austin Keisling, Peru’s Logan Primerano and Western’s Evan Warden were all named to the underclass honorable-mention team.
