“Jack and Camden got us off to a real good start with a couple quick wins,” Taylor coach Dave Wise said. “Three singles and 1 doubles were closer than the score indicated. [Both were tied at 3-3 in the first set] then the guys stepped up. Then they played really well in the second sets to finish it off.”
Nathan Chou and Kohl McCully won the No. 2 doubles match 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 for Northwestern.
EASTERN 3, ROSSVILLE 2
Logan Calwell won the No. 2 singles point 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the match for visiting Eastern (6-8). Austin Chase won the No. 3 match 6-0, 6-2. And the No. 1 doubles team of Zach Walker and Daniel Pugh won 6-0, 6-3.
“[The] past couple weeks we have been playing really well,” Eastern coach Nick Sale said. “I really think Logan played exceptionally well at 2 singles. The [Rossville] kid fought back in the second set but Logan held strong. We’re playing really well in our last regular-season week. That bodes well heading into sectionals next week. We’re excited.”
