Marion’s Scotty Weir, the defending sprint car champion at the Kokomo Speedway, got past Gary Taylor to pick up the feature win Friday night at the Gas City I-69 Speedway.
Taylor shot to the early lead before Weir piloted his Keen Racing/Spirit Medical Transport No. 18 by on the high side on the sixth lap enroute to leading the rest of the way.
Taylor continued to impress in the Hery Racing/Claxton Engines No. 40, finishing second while Chad Boespflug was third after winning two weeks ago at the track.
Former track champion Brett Burdette and Kyle Cummins were fourth and fifth, respectively.Kokomo’s Josh Spencer and Logan Jarrett were deadlocked in the points battle heading into the night, however Spencer, behind the wheel of his Half Moon Restaurant and Brewery/Colescott’s Mobil One No. 66J, took over the points lead for the series by virtue of finishing ninth, one spot ahead of Jarrett’s J&J Trucking No. 29J.
Two other Kokomo drivers made the feature as Jamie Frederickson scored 16th and Conner Donelson 17th.
Josh Owens, fresh from his win two days earlier at Kokomo, made it two wins in three nights in the Thunder Car feature, topping D.J. Holt.
Ervin Turner was third and Chris Hunter fourth. Kaleb Nutter rounded out the top five.Randy Lines, a former Kokomo Street Stock champion, picked up the Modified feature win in impressive fashion over runner-up Jake Ruefer and third-place Derek Losh.
Bill Lewis clawed from the back of the pack to finish fourth and Ryan Cripe was fifth.
Miami County Speedway
Krissy Durr picked up her second straight feature win in the Restrictor Class to highlight Saturday’s racing action at the Miami County Speedway.
Piloting her No. 47, Durr scored the win over second-place Dalton Walker and third-place Jadon Rogers in the Restrictor division.
