Post 6 seniors open regional play Friday
The Kokomo Post 6 American Legion senior baseball team will open regional play Friday at 4 p.m. against Highland Post 180 (19-8) in the opening game of the double-elimination tournament at Plymouth’s Bill Nixon Field.
Post 6 secured the top seed from the Kokomo Sectional last weekend when Richmond Post 65 opted not to return to Highland Park and play the championship round with the No. 2 seed already guaranteed to them. Richmond was supposed to face the top seed from the Plymouth Sectional, Bristol post 143, but will not play in the regional due to no longer having enough players to field a team.
As a result, the host team, Plymouth Post 27, will take Richmond’s place in the tournament. The Post 27 Diamond Spiders will face Bristol Post 143 in the nightcap Friday at 7 p.m.
The losers of Friday’s first round will play an elimination game Saturday at 10 a.m. The winners of Friday’s games will follow at 1 p.m., with the loser coming back later in the day to face the winner of the first elimination game at 4 p.m.
The championship round of the tournament will be played Sunday at 1 p.m., with an if-needed game to follow directly afterward.
