The Panthers (3-3) scored 11 runs in the first three innings to back strong pitching efforts from Evan Warden and Austin Taylor in a road win over the Red Devils.

Warden picked up the win on the hill in a starter’s role, working four innings of two-hit ball. He struck out five and walked a pair, and allowed an unearned run.

Taylor worked the final three innings, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while fanning one.

Warden helped his own cause with an RBI single in the first, and Taylor and Warden both socked RBI doubles in the Panthers’ five-run second inning. Western added four unearned runs in the third.

Warden was 2-for-5 and scored three runs, while Drew Bellus added a 2-for-4 night at the dish.

“We needed a game like this to get us going,” Western coach Quentin Brown said. “We’ve been off and on, and [Friday] night we came out with a new approach at the plate and it showed. I’m really excited with how they played and competed, and hopefully it carries over and helps us gain some momentum.”
