Logansport’s Jacob Brown took the opening kickoff 89 yards to put Logansport up 7-0. Peru then went to work. The Tigers scored the next 38 points, putting the game way out of reach.
Steven McBride led the Tigers with 125 yards on 27 carries and Michael Richardson racked up 87 yards on just eight carries.
Peru improved to 2-0 with the win while Logansport dropped to 0-2. Peru opens Mid-Indiana Conference play next week against Eastern.
W. LAFAYETTE 56, CASS 8
Class 3A No. 9-ranked West Lafayette bolted to a 21-0 lead in the opening quarter and Class 2A No. 7 Cass never recovered, falling 56-8 on the Red Devils’ field in a game that was called early because of inclement weather.
The Red Devils (2-0) led 43-8 at halftime. At that point, QB Parker Ronchetto had completed all 11 of his pass attempts for 204 yards and four touchdowns.
The Red Devils had extended their lead to 56-8 deep in the third quarter when the game was called. The game already had been delayed once, at halftime.
Gabe Welch scored the Kings’ touchdown on a 2-yard run early in the second quarter.
Cass (1-1) opens Mid-Indiana Conference play against Northwestern.
