Taylor girls net win in season opener
Taylor’s girls basketball team topped North Miami 44-34 Friday night at Center Court in season-opening action.
North Miami held an 8-6 advantage at the close of the opening quarter, but Taylor had a 15-12 lead at halftime and a 27-22 lead at the close of three quarters.
“We forced 35 turnovers and we had only 18. But, we just played sloppy,” Taylor coach Dennis Bentzler said. “We got out-rebounded by 10, we missed 16 free throws, we didn’t handle the ball very well at times. We just didn’t shoot it well, either.
“We did some good things as well, but we just played within the flow of the game that they wanted to play. We couldn’t get the game sped up to our tempo.”
Brie Boehler led the Titans with 18 points and seven rebounds. Cami Hansen had eight points and Lydia Owens had six points and five boards.
