Boys basketball openers are on tap tonight
The boys basketball season swings into action tonight for the bulk of the KT-area teams.
Topping the area schedule is the annual pre-Thanksgiving clash between Western at Kokomo. The Wildkats have won the last eight meetings between the teams, beating the Panthers twice in each of the last two seasons. Tonight’s game will mark the only meeting between the rivals this season.
Northwestern and Eastern both play at home tonight with the Tigers taking on Madison-Grant, and the Comets taking on Frankton.
The following is a rundown of tonight’s games. JV games start at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Western at Kokomo
Madison-Grant at Northwestern
Frankton at Eastern
Cass at North Miami
Seeger at Carroll
Clinton Central at Delphi
6:30 p.m. — Peru at Logansport
• The Tribune will go to press early tonight ahead of Thanksgiving Day. The early deadlines will keep basketball coverage from our Thursday print edition, but we will have full coverage available online at www.kokomotribune.com.
Northwestern, TC set new boys hoops date
With Tri-Central’s boys basketball season delayed by the Trojan football team’s state tournament run, Northwestern has announced another new date for its home game against TC.
The Tigers now will host the Trojans on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The game originally was scheduled as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Saturday before being moved to Dec. 7 and now to Jan. 7. The girls game is still set for Saturday, with a 6 p.m. JV start followed by the varsity game.
Arnett playing big role for unbeaten squad
Former Kokomo Wildkat standout Alan Arnett is leading the way for Georgia Southwestern State’s basketball team, which is off to a 6-0 start.
Arnett is scoring a team-high 16.3 points per game for the NCAA Division II squad. The 6-foot-5 senior guard also is averaging 7.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game.
