TRC invites Peru, Maconaquah to league

A day after Eastern’s school board voted to leave the Mid-Indiana Conference after the 2014-15 school year, MIC schools Peru and Maconaquah received invitations to join the Three Rivers Conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Neither school has made a decision on whether to remain in the MIC or leave for the TRC at this time.

The current TRC includes Northfield, Manchester, Rochester, Whitko, Tippecanoe Valley, Southwood, Wabash and North Miami.

Taylor announced in December it was leaving the MIC to join the Hoosier Heartland Conference. Tuesday night, Eastern followed suit and voted to leave the MIC to join the HHC.

If Maconaquah and Peru were to opt to leave the MIC, it would leave the league with four members after the 2014-15 school year in Hamilton Heights, Lewis Cass, Northwestern and Western.

Colts’ Overton added to Pro Bowl roster

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Colts long snapper Matt Overton has been added to this year’s Pro Bowl roster.

Team officials said Wednesday it will be Overton’s first appearance in the NFL’s annual all-star game.

The second-year NFL player joins an expanding list of Colts heading to Hawaii. NFL sacks champion Robert Mathis was the only Colts player initially chosen to play in the game.

On Monday, coach Chuck Pagano told reporters that Indy’s coaching staff would coach one of the teams. And it’s possible other players could soon be added to the roster, too, based on those who opt out or cannot play because they’ll be preparing for the Super Bowl.
