TRENT: Bowlers, are you ready for new season?

Locals fare well at New Midwest Tournament for Women.

Let’s get this season rolling! If your bowling league hasn’t already had an organ-ization meeting, then I am sure it is just around the corner. When you receive your sanction card application, if it is already filled out by the computer system, check it before you sign it and turn it in. Make sure that your address, telephone number and e-mail address (if applicable) is correct. This is all very important for when you roll that 300 game this season.

How many of you remember me talking about the New Midwest Tournament for Women. This tournament involves Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin. Every year this tournament will rotate to one of these states as the tournament site. This year the site was Lansing, Mich., and there are 801 teams from 27 different states. This exceeds the total teams that were expected which gives this tournament a great success rating.

Our area had some bowlers who were very successful in this new tournament. Taking third place was Hoosier Hot Rollers with Sherry Mund, Robin Campbell, Bonnie Hundley and DiAnne Rickel. Just Having A Ball from Windfall took 54th place.

In the singles event, Tammy Burge placed 117th and Shannon Baden was 353. In doubles, Jennifer Hale and Twila Blazer took 87th and in all-events Hale placed 208th and Shannon Baden 286th.

It was great to have all these area bowlers place in this tournament when you consider there were a lot of ladies who bowled. Congratulations for being so successful in this new tournament, another first for the City of Kokomo.

He is an open wheel racing standout who never blows his own horn and is embarrassed by the attention he receives for being considered one of the top sprint car drivers in the country.
