Kats’ Persons to have MRI on injured knee
Kokomo senior safety/quarterback Tayler Persons has been ruled out of Friday’s North Central Conference opener at Muncie Central.
Persons injured a knee in the second half of Friday’s 39-13 loss to Fort Wayne Wayne on a running play, and did not return.
Kokomo coach Brett Colby said Persons is scheduled to have an MRI on Thursday, and his status for later games will be determined pending the results of Thursday’s tests.
Persons threw for 175 yards, a touchdown and an interception, and tallied a team-high 15 tackles in Kokomo’s season-opening loss to 4A No. 5 Mount Vernon, 29-19 on Aug. 23. He led the Wildkats with 100 yards and two TDs rushing in the loss to Wayne, while adding five tackles on defense.
