---- — Kats’ Persons to have MRI on injured knee

Kokomo senior safety/quarterback Tayler Persons has been ruled out of Friday’s North Central Conference opener at Muncie Central.

Colts trade Rayford, cut ties with Boyett

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis promoted tight end Dominique Jones to the active roster and signed rookie tight end Justice Cunningham to the practice squad Tuesday.

The moves came shortly after the Colts traded rookie linebacker Caesar Rayford to the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional draft pick. Rayford led Indy with five sacks in the preseason.

Jones played in four games and made one catch last season with Indy but was waived Saturday.

Earlier Tuesday, Indy released rookie safety John Boyett, a sixth-round pick, one day after he was arrested on three charges including public intoxication.
