Police chase ends with crash into Fort Wayne house

FORT WAYNE (AP) — A Fort Wayne police chase ended when the fleeing driver lost control and crashed into a house.

City police say an officer tried to stop the car about 3:30 a.m. Monday because it was speeding and driving recklessly. Police tell WANE-TV the driver at first slowed down before trying to flee.

The chase only lasted a few minutes before the car failed to make it through a turn onto another street and went through a front yard and into the house on the city's south side. Officers said the house appeared vacant.

Police say the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Investigators say a gun and a small amount of marijuana were found inside the car.
