NE Ind. house fire kills person trapped inside

FREMONT, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say one person has been found dead after a house fire in northeastern Indiana.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Department says emergency crews arrived late Thursday to find the rural home outside Fremont engulfed in flames.

The Herald Republican reports residents of the home told crews that one person was still inside, but that the flames were too intense for firefighters to enter the house.

The identity of the person who died wasn't immediately released.

The sheriff's department says state fire marshal's office investigators are involved in trying to determine what caused the fire in the area about 50 miles north of Fort Wayne.
