INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Several thousand homes and businesses across much of Indiana are without electricity after a line of thunderstorms moved across the state.
The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado watch at various times early Tuesday from around the Bloomington area, through Indianapolis and on to the Muncie region. No severe damage was immediately reported, although trees and power lines were knocked down throughout the area.
Indiana utility companies reported more than 28,000 power outages before dawn Tuesday. The largest concentrations of outages were in Indianapolis and its northern suburbs, along with the area from around Terre Haute to Bloomington.
