Police seize bald eagle from Indiana man

GREENCASTLE (AP) — Police say officers seized a bald eagle from a western Indiana man who was keeping it inside a cage at his apartment.

State conservation officers say they went to the home of the 49-year-old Greencastle man after receiving an anonymous tip that he had the eagle. Officers say the man apparently captured the juvenile bird a few days earlier.

The Banner Graphic reports officers issued the man a summons to appear in court on a charge of unlawful possession of the eagle. That charge is punishable by up to 60 days in jail.

The bald eagle has been taken to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
