Las Vegas — A man accused of trying to torch a Las Vegas pet shop where firefighters rescued 27 puppies is due for his first court appearance on arson and other charges.
Kirk Bills is expected to get a lawyer and seek bail Friday in Las Vegas Justice Court.
The 27-year-old Bills was returned in custody to Nevada this week following his Feb. 7 arrest in Crown Point, Ind.
He faces the same 31 felony and misdemeanor charges as Prince and Princess pet shop owner Gloria Eun Hye Lee.
They include arson, conspiracy, burglary and 27 counts of attempted animal cruelty.
Lee was indicted last week. She's due for arraignment Monday.
Prosecutors say Lee and Bills are seen on security video setting the Jan. 27 fire.
Authorities believe profit was the motive.
