Scattered damage across Indiana from storms

The Associated Press

Indianapolis — The storms that prompted many communities across central and southern Indiana to move trick-or-treating hours from Halloween night brought heavy rain and strong winds to much of the state.

The National Weather Service reports Terre Haute and Indianapolis both had rainfall totals of at least 2 inches from Thursday's storms as many other areas also had at least 1 inch of rain. Wind gusts topping 60 mph in places led to many trees being knocked down, causing scattered damage to houses and cars.

Electric utilities reported at least 10,000 homes and business remained without power early Friday across the state.

Many cities and towns are having trick-or-treating hours Friday evening. Kokomo's Friday trick-or-treating hours are 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The weather forecast calls for a dry day with highs in the 50s.
