FORT WAYNE (AP) — A Fort Wayne firefighter and two ambulance workers have been recognized for their actions during a shooting attack on an ambulance and a second vehicle.
WANE-TV and The Journal Gazette report the Indiana Emergency Responders Conference recently gave firefighter Eric Zeiger and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority paramedic Diana Lantz and emergency medical technician Jeromy Yadon its Heroic Rescue of the Year award. They were cited for actions a year ago when their ambulance carrying a man who had been stabbed at a nightclub was sprayed with bullets.
The Emergency Responders Conference also named Rita Hughes dispatcher of the year for her work during the shootings.
Dontay Martin of Fort Wayne was sentenced to 170 years in prison because of the shooting attack.
