  • PREP ROUNDUP: Wagner puts on show for Kats
    It was the Elizabeth Wagner show as the Wildkat hurler struck out 14 and made a fielding assist for the 15th and final out in a 20-0, 5-inning win over host Muncie Central Monday afternoon. With outstanding pitching, fielding and hitting, Kokomo stayed near the top of the North Central Conference with a 3-1 record.

  • PREP TRACK: Kokomo girls 2nd in league meet
    Kokomo’s girls team earned a runner-up finish in the North Central Conference track and field meet Friday night at Marion. Kokomo’s boys team came in fifth place.

  • PREP ROUNDUP: Taylor, TC split twinbill
    Tri-Central and Taylor split a wild baseball doubleheader at Taylor’s Phares Field with the Trojans winning the opener 9-7 and the Titans taking the closer 17-16 in nine innings.

    The hits were too few and far between for the Eastern baseball team Monday as visiting Tri-Central left town with a 3-0 victory.
    Josh Copp hurled the gem for the Trojans, blanking the Comets on three hits.

    The Western Panther softball squad needed a little extra incentive to kick into gear after a sluggish start to the season. Thursday, the Panthers found their motivation in the form of a key county rival.

    Western is looking for a new girls basketball coach this spring after Steve Hoppes resigned following his second season at the helm of the Panthers.

    The Panthers hope to build on last season’s 15-12 campaign with a strong core of returning starters but must make inroads in an area filled with good teams in order to show improvement.

  • Western just misses state berth
    WEST LAFAYETTE — Western’s gymnastics team took third place at the IHSAA Harrison Gymnastics Regional here Friday night, less than half a point away from advancing to next week’s state meet. Lawrence Central won with a score of 109, Noblesville was second at 104.725 and Western was third at 104.375. McCutcheon (99.425), Harrison (98.675) and Franklin Central (98.2) rounded out the team scores.
