Celesta Dyar, Kokomo, will celebrate her 100th birthday with a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 1 at Bennetts Switch Community Church.
She was born Sept. 28, 1917, at home in Coal City, Indiana, to Earl and Helen Miller. On Nov. 4, 1939, in Coal City, she married Glen Dyar, who passed away May 27, 1992.
She graduated from Coal City High School and worked as a cook for Maconaquah School Corp.
Celesta enjoys reading, garden, and attending the Deer Creek Do-Ettes Club and singles. She is the only remaining charter member of the Do-Ettes, and she has been a member of the Eastern Star since 1945.
Celesta has three children, Kay Titus and husband John, Connie Rutherford and husband Wayne, and Mike Dyar and wife Cheryl, all of Kokomo. She has seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
