Kokomo Common Councilman Dan Haworth passed away early Tuesday.
He was in his third term on the council, having been elected in 1999. Popular among his fellow council members and in his district, the business owner was re-elected to the 4th District council seat without opposition in 2003, and faced token opposition in 2007. A Democrat, he was twice elected council vice president.
Haworth was the proprietor of Dan’s Variety Bakery, 1800 S. Union St., for the past 35 years. In 2005, he estimated he’d made more than 1.5 million donuts during the store’s long run.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
