One of Kokomo’s newest restaurants is here to tell us that authentic Mexican food can be both fresh and fast.

Jalapeños Grill offers fast Mexican food in an elegant environment. Located at Mancino’s old location, the grill has changed the building to a serene, relaxed atmosphere.

“Jalapeños Grill is a family-owned restaurant and it’s the only one in Indiana,” said Jose Tenoiio, manager.

Dark reds, greens and yellows highlight the dark and beautiful restaurant, making it both cozy and deeply peaceful at the same time. The restaurant even has a little touch of romance with an awning in the middle leaving privacy for some tables.

The large booths and a TV in the corner make this the perfect date restaurant, a spot to meet with co-workers or simply a place to meet with friends.

Whether looking for authentic Mexican, seafood, fajitas, burritos or even just nachos — Jalapeno Grill has it all.

The restaurant offers around 45 different meals, said Tenoiio. By the looks of the menu — it’s obvious. The menu leaves nothing to question offering four pages of information to help the guest decide.

The meal begins with a personal favorite – chips and salsa. They don’t serve it just any old-fashioned way though. At Jalapeños Grill, the chips and salsa are brought to the table with empty bowls and a salsa container. This lets the guests pour their own salsa into their own cups — no sharing here.

Since opening last week, the grill has already been busy, said Tenoiio. But the customers won’t know it with the individual attention every guest gets.

After choosing from an extensive selection, the meal is then quickly served. Although the food is served quickly, the cooking is not rushed.

The food was expertly prepared, and each dish was served as an impressive display on large plates with even larger amounts of food.

The best part, however, is when the food hits your mouth. Rich, spicy flavors hit every taste bud at once competing for best flavor. Whether it’s a fajita, a chimichanga or a taco, each dish is rich in taste and leaves the customer satisfied.

Seafood nachos are what Tenoiio suggested, but if you don’t like that, then try the jalapeno penne pasta or the pollio adobe. If none of that suits you, then go for the classic steak or regular taco.
