3. BRETT DANIELS
In 2011, Brett Daniels won the Chamber of Commerce Award for Special Achievement and Superior Performance for his development of the Kokomo Summer Concert Series. He passed away in September 2015. “Brett Daniels brought the community together during the summer concerts ... ,” said reader Dena Thornton, who nominated Daniels for 100 Objects. “He wanted everyone to be able to hear fabulous music from old bands to up-and-coming artists while spending time with family.” In February 2016, the Tribune reported Daniels was fondly remembered for his contributions to the community during the 2016 summer series. “It is definitely tragic that our community lost Brett Daniels and his dedication to the concert series,” said Kokomo Parks and Recreation Director Randy Morris at the time. “We always worked closely with Brett to bring quality acts, and he has left a sizable void. Brett was a mainstay at the events. He was always one to be the frontline of promotion for what he developed. I think his absence is going to be felt mostly at the shows and the days leading up to them.”
