Movie Night

First Friday Movie Night will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019.

What do Captain Jack Sparrow, Elsa, Darth Vader and Marilyn Monroe have in common? They will all be in downtown Kokomo for First Friday Movie Night — well, their cardboard versions at least.

Downtown businesses and organizations will host events inspired by the big screen from 5:30 to 9 p.m., with a dozen or more famous faces stationed around town for selfies.

Other happenings include:

• Visit Artworks Gallery for some free “Movie-Time” popcorn and a free activity for kids to make a thumbprint drawing of their own special movie character. The gallery will also be holding sign-ups for its various art classes like acrylics, drawing, watercolor and oil painting.

• The Kokomo Family YMCA is hosting a 7th Grade Initiative Kick-Off Party, where parents can get their 7th grade students signed up for a free membership at the Y. Food and beverages will be provided by Dos Molinos, Gingerbread House Bakery, Kokomo Coke and Gabe’s Pizza. There will also be activities, music and a free Nerf Night.

• IU Kokomo Downtown Gallery will host an opening reception for its latest exhibit, FOCUS 2019. The free exhibit will feature work by Jennifer Marion, Kim Anderson and Mike Arnato.

• Lakewood Family Dental will be hosting a free craft station and balloon giveaway.

• The Jeff Ware Band will be performing live at The Coterie. There is no cover to attend and doors open at 5 p.m.

• Who’s Yer Coustic will be performing at Wings Etc. beginning at 6 p.m.
