47th Annual Home Show
The 47th annual Home Show will be back at the Kokomo Event and Conference Center this weekend.
In addition to a large selection of home and home improvement related vendors from north central Indiana, there will be axe throwing by Anarchy Axe, Guitar Hero, a petting zoo, carnival games and free face painting for kids. There will also be prizes given away throughout the day, including two grand prizes: a reverse osmosis water system and a gas grill from Dirt-N-Turf.
Tickets are $3 at the door for adults and children ages 12 and under are admitted free. The Home Show will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Cookies and Canvas
As part of their Staycation program, the Kokomo Family YMCA is hosting an afternoon of Cookies and Canvas on Sunday.
From 2 to 4 p.m., parents are welcome and encouraged to join their children in a fun painting experience. There is no age requirement and the artist will guide each participant in creating a spring-themed painting. There will also be a cookie and milk bar for guest to enjoy.
Tickets are $25, which includes an apron to wear during the painting process, canvas and painting materials, and cookies and milk to enjoy. For more information, call 765-457-4447.
Yoga at The Hobson
The Hobson, one of Kokomo’s newest venues, will be hosting a spring restore and renew yoga session with Anne Wolka on Sunday.
Participants will enjoy a gentle series of warm up exercises to settle into your physical body, followed by a pranayama (breathing) practice to help prepare you for the practice of restorative yoga. Afterwards, guests can enjoy a spring cocktail or tea with fellow yogis.
The class will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Hobson, located at 110 N. Washington St. The cost is $30 per person. For more information, visit the event Facebook page.
VOLK at The Coterie
The Nashville-based duo VOLK will be performing live Friday on the second floor of The Coterie at 107 W. Sycamore St.
The band, consisting of drummer Eleot Reich and guitarist Chris Lowe, play “back to basics” rock n’ roll, in a genre called Gothic Western Rock. Their first album, “Boutique Western Swing Compositions,” was released in March 2015, and is said to combine vivid songwriting with raw emotion. They will be joined by Indianapolis band Giant Not Giant.

Seed Starting at SHAK
SHAK Makerspace and Thistle Rock Farm will be hosting a seed starting and transplanting class on Saturday.
It may still be a little chilly, but now is the time to get your planting started. The class will include all supplies needed, like seed trays, soil, seeds and spray bottles. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at SHAK, located at 210 W. Monroe St.
