A Greentown man has been arrested and charged with 17 counts related to the child molestation of a juvenile female that began when she was around 12 years old.
According to court documents, William Brett Lucas, 56, is currently facing 13 counts of child molesting, all Level 1 felonies, three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, all Level 4 felonies, and one count of child exploitation, a Level 5 felony, after police say the juvenile told a Department of Child Services caseworker about the alleged abuse back in March.
The juvenile, now 16, told the caseworker that she believed Lucas had molested her approximately two times per week for about two years — mostly from the end of her sixth-grade year to the end of her eighth-grade year — court records indicated.
The juvenile stated that the incidents would last 10-15 minutes at a time, reports noted, and Lucas would allegedly perform various sexual acts on her during those incidents. Lucas would also have the juvenile do the same to him, she told police.
During her second interview with police in April, the juvenile told authorities that she remembered Lucas taking photographs during the incidents, and police were able to obtain photographs off one of Lucas’ cell phones through a forensic extraction.
The juvenile was able to identify herself as one of the subjects in the sexually explicit photographs, and a time stamp from those photographs appeared to show that the juvenile was just 11 years of age at the time, court records indicated.
Lucas is currently being held at the Howard County Jail on no bond, and he has an initial hearing at 9 a.m. Monday, June 10, in Howard Superior Court 1.
