A procession carrying the body of fallen Howard County Sheriff's Deputy Carl Koontz is expected to arrive in Kokomo Monday afternoon.
At 2 p.m., a procession will begin in Indianapolis and travel to Kokomo, according to Indiana State Police. Details of the travel route will be released later this morning, and the Tribune will publish a map of that route online.
The procession will be a multiple agency effort and will involve dozens of police officers from a variety of law enforcement departments, according to an ISP press release. The community is invited to line the procession route in order to show respect for Koontz and support for his family and colleagues.
Details about funeral arrangements and upcoming events will be released as they become available.
