Lt. Donald Whitehead of the Kokomo Police Department’s computer forensic unit, nabbed a man suspected of downloading child pornography.

Howard County sheriff deputies arrested Donald L. Clevenger, 33, at his residence in the 800 block of Witherspoon Drive, Thursday evening on a Class D felony warrant for a possessing of child pornography charge.

The arrest stems from an investigation that began in September, when undercover investigators observed a user, who they later identified as Clevenger, downloading and sharing files of child pornography on the Internet, Whitehead reported.

Officers executed a search warrant at Clevenger’s residence in January and found evidence of child pornography, according to police.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Mark McCann filed for a warrant May 20 at the conclusion of Whitehead’s investigation.

Clevenger is being held on $10,000 bail, and he is set to appear in Howard Circuit Court on Wednesday for his initial hearing. If convicted, he could serve up to three years in prison.

Anyone with information concerning this case is urged to call Whitehead at 765-456-7248 or the Kokomo Police Department Hotline at 765-456-7017.
