Taylor Township Fire Department was up early Monday morning battling a blaze at 3302 Orleans Drive, the home of Barbara Ault and Tamara Lacy.

No one was at the home when the fire department received the call at 8:22 a.m.

“There was heavy smoke showing upon arrival,” Fire Chief Jay Price said.

He said the firefighters had the blaze under control in 40 minutes.

“I don’t know how long it burnt before someone called,” Price said.

Price said he’s still trying to determine the cause of the fire. As of Monday evening, Price couldn’t say where the fire began.

Price said the home suffered structural damage to the living room and a closet, in addition to heat and smoke damage throughout the house.

Price estimated the damage at more than $80,000 in structure alone, and another $30,000 in additional damage.

Harrison Township Fire Department and Kokomo Fire Department assisted the Taylor Fire Department.
