PERU - Miami County deputies and state police are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old in Peru.
The Miami County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call at approximately 7:18 a.m. Sunday from someone who said a person had been shot and was dead at the caller's home.
Miami County sheriff's deputies and Indiana State Police troopers responded to 3119 N. Mexico Road, where they found the body of 18-year-old Nathan Joe Hopper inside the residence, located in a mobile home community.
Hopper, who was identified as one of the home's residents, had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a media release from the Miami County Sheriff's office.
An investigation is being conducted by the Miami County Sheriff's office, the Miami County Coroner's office and the Indiana State Police.
