State police credited a citizen’s tip for the arrest of a wanted Tipton man in Logansport early Sunday morning.
Troopers caught up with a damaged pickup truck driven by Allen Jay Stickels, 27, Tipton, at 7:36 a.m., 2 miles east of Logansport on Logansport Road.
According to police, Stickels, who is wanted on three felony counts in Illinois, was involved in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of 24th and Broadway streets in Logansport.
His truck was spotted by Master Trooper Randy Pryor just minutes after a citizen phoned in information about the crash to Cass County Central Dispatch.
State Police Sgt. Tony Slocum reported Stickels is wanted on an arrest warrant from Kane County, Ill., for two felony counts of burglary and a single felony charge of theft.
A search of Stickels’ truck turned up a small amount of marijuana and a small bag of unidentified pills, according to police. Stickels was incarcerated in the Cass County Jail on the arrest warrant from Illinois.
He also faces local misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana under 30 grams and leaving the scene of a property-damage crash.
Police said Stickels was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on Broadway, when he allegedly disregarded a red light and struck a northbound 2006 Buick. No one was injured in the crash.
Pryor was assisted in his investigation by the Logansport Police Department.
