It took firefighters nearly two hours early-Wednesday morning to extinguish a house fire in the 1100 block of South Bell Street.
According to witness reports, there were no residents inside when the fire began.
First responders were dispatched to the residence around 2:47 a.m., a Kokomo Fire Department report stated, and heavy flames were already spread across the front of the house when they arrived.
Most of the fire damage was contained to the exterior of the property, officials said, mainly on the left side of the front porch.
There were also clothes and other household items at the property that were on fire, KFD noted, along with gas cans in the rear of the residence.
It's still unclear whether there were working smoke detectors inside the residence at the time the fire broke out, and the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
