Woman charged in accident

The driver who struck a railroad crossing sign at Buckeye and North streets Tuesday afternoon now faces charges of drunken driving, driving while suspended and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to Kokomo police, Cheri G. Beal, 46, Kokomo, crashed into the railroad sign and fled the scene. She was arrested a short time later at Buckeye and Washington streets. No one was injured in the one-car crash.

The accident was one of numerous traffic accidents Tuesday afternoon. No serious injuries were reported in the other crashes, according to accident reports.

Monday, 11:30 p.m., deputies arrested Jared Alexander, 32, 100 block of South Indiana Street, at the Howard County jail, on warrants for battery on a pregnant woman, domestic violence battery and driving while suspended.

Tuesday, 10:05 a.m., deputies arrested Michael E. Paul, 29, 700 block of Kirk Street, at the Howard County jail, on a warrant for failure to appear.

Tuesday, 1:30 p.m., deputies arrested Terrell Reed, 29, Lafayette, at the Courthouse, on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.

Tuesday, 3:05 p.m., deputies arrested Steve D. Peck, 21, South Bend, at the Marion County jail, on a warrant for failure to appear.

Tuesday, 4:38 p.m., police arrested a 16-year-old female in the 400 block of Amberwood Place, on a charge of incorrigibility.

Tuesday, 4:39 p.m., police arrested a 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old male at Taylor and Bell streets, each on a charge of conversion.

Tuesday, 5:01 p.m., police arrested Nicholas P. Johnson, 31, 1400 block of Jeffrey Lane, in the 900 block of East Carter Street, on a Miami County warrant for burglary and attempted theft.

Tuesday, 8:39 p.m., police arrested Joseph A. Perry, 26, 1800 block of Tam-O-Shanter Court, in the 1200 block of South Ohio Street, on warrants for two counts of failure to appear.

Tuesday, 9:37 p.m., police arrested William J. Langford, 24, LaPorte, in the 1300 block of East Mulberry Street, on a Missouri warrant for forgery and intimidation.

Wednesday, 1:06 a.m., deputies arrested Judd Karnes, 28, 1700 block of West Jefferson Street, at McCann and Sycamore Street, on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI endangering a person.

Wednesday, 2:15 a.m., police arrested Nashawanda Carter, 36, 800 block of East Hoffer Street, at Home Avenue and Hoffer Street, on charges of theft and public intoxication.


Sunday, noon, the theft of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix was reported from the 2400 block of Burning Tree Lane.

Sunday, 6:36 p.m., the theft of a 2000 Dodge Ram was reported from the 2700 block of Fenley Street.

Tuesday, 12:30 p.m., the theft of an electric chainsaw valued at between $200 and $300 was reported from the 1000 block of East North Street.

Tuesday, 11:37 p.m., the theft of a Bryant central air conditioning unit valued at $750 was reported from the 400 block of West Elm Street.

Miami County


Sunday, 7:45 p.m., police arrested Blake M. Hawley, 21, 3200 block of West Old Stone Road, on a charge of public intoxication.

Monday, 12:45 p.m., police arrested Logan P. Manus, 34, Akron, on a warrant.

Monday, 1:30 p.m., police arrested Eldridge T. Fisher, 34, Harvey, Ill., on two counts of possession of cocaine and two counts of dealing cocaine.
