Western second graders learn the importance of reading

Students in Kelly Tuberty’s second grade class at Western Elementary School learned about the importance of reading Tuesday, thanks to Western alum Josh Roller and racecar driver Johnny Weaver. Roller is a communications specialist for U.S. Legends Cars International. The Western alum spoke about the importance of reading in racing. Students also got to sit in Weaver’s #24 racecar, win racing gear and ask Weaver questions. “Helping elementary students understand that reading is not only crucial as they progress through school, but also in everyday life was a pleasure,” Roller said in a statement.
