Making Christmas merrier

Nicole King sends this Cheer:

“I am writing in to thank the man in the little red pickup. He, for the second year in a row, has helped to make my family’s Christmas a very merry one.

“He dropped a box filled with toys on my grandmother’s porch for my children. I wish to say thank you with all my heart. My children will have a merrier Christmas because of you. Thank you again.”

Ministry serves hundreds

Mary Ingle and Brenda Underwood of the Hands of Hope send this Cheer:

“Kokomo Urban Outreach’s Hands of Hope ministry would like to thank all the churches, organizations and volunteers who have helped us as we served the people at CAM this past year. Each month we serve meals and hand out needed items to 100-250 people. This would not happen without the support of our generous volunteers.

“We are looking forward to 2011 as we serve together the people in our community.”

Finding ‘forever homes’

Mary Helen Wilborn of Pals for Paws sends this Cheer:

“Pals for Paws has the best volunteer crew in the world! We are a 100 percent volunteer organization. We want to thank all those who donate their time to help rescue homeless and abused animals in our community.

“We have assisted more than 1,000 animals in finding ‘forever homes.’ More than 250 of them were dumped or left behind by owners who could no longer keep them. Thanks to our crew of volunteers, we have either placed them in forever homes or in a foster home until the right forever home comes along. Thank you, volunteers!

“We also want to thank those who have donated items such as blankets, toys, leashes, food and treats, as well as those who have donated money to help with medical bills or held fundraisers. Many of the strays and left-behinds we took in were in need of medical treatment, and the funds helped so much.

“We are still in need of blankets, towels and dog beds for winter, as well as money to pay off medical bills still owed. Your donation goes to help homeless pets. Our address is P.O. Box 1034, Kokomo, IN 46903. Our e-mail address is Our phone number is 765-454-8796.”

Special thanks to this year’s coordinators, Bryan Young and Scott McKay, for all of their efforts and months of planning.

“Thank you to Walgreens, Lucas Home Furnishings, McDonald’s, City of Kokomo, Sound of Music, Blondie’s Cookies, Coca-Cola, Pizza Hut, Realtors Association, Kokomo Fire Department, Local 396 and Master Sgt. Kim Wood for helping make the event a success! On behalf of all of the consumers and staff at Bona Vista, thank you!”
