Karen Wolfe, executive director of the Kokomo Humane Society, sends this Cheer for those who participated in the fundraiser “A ‘Tail’ to Remember”:

“The newest event setting in Kokomo was the site of a premiere fundraiser on Feb. 2. This venue is The Hobson, which was originally part of Kokomo’s grand former City Building and one that has been a central setting to many wonderful moments in our community’s history.

“Now, the top floor has been transformed into space for anyone to write the next chapter of his or her story.

“This is exactly what the Kokomo Humane Society did through a fundraiser featuring this new venue and the Chicago-based storytelling cooperative, 2nd Story. ‘A “Tail” to Remember’ was a fantastic evening attended by 150 people who experienced an evening of entertainment, food and drink along with a silent auction. With the generous support of sponsors and attendees we were able to raise $20,500 toward equipment for the surgery unit at the new Humane Society. The area will be used to treat acute health issues and provide spay/neuter surgeries for shelter animals. We are extremely grateful to all who attended and to our sponsors of this event.

“Our new $2.4 million facility is well underway at the corner of Hoffer Street and Home Avenue. We are eagerly anticipating our move, which is planned for late May. In the meantime we are continuing to raise funds to reach our financial goal.

“Top Sponsors: The Petco Foundation, Bolinger Law Firm, The Hobson.

“Second Story Sponsors: BCR CPA Group, Robert Mullen & Dianna Delgado, Hampton Inn & Suites, Dan & Ann Harrigan, Michael & Susan Maher, Bob & Sue Mason, Bill & Karen Peelle, Richard & Angela Zeltner.

“Third Story Sponsors: NIPSCO.

“Fourth Story Sponsors: David & Lorie Granat, Kokomo Animal Hospital, Petsvalu.”
