Two semi-tractor trailers collided this morning, one a FedEx tandem truck and the other a tanker carrying hydrochloric acid that was leaking, causing a Hazmat scene on U.S. 31 at 100 South in Tipton County on June 14, 2019. The leak, about 7 a.m., caused a cloud that could be seen a mile away with homes in the area being evacuated and the highway to be shut down. The southbound lanes were opened back up after the cloud dissipated. The northbound lanes will be closed most of the day for cleanup. No major injuries were reported.
