In 2014, a dedication of the Warrior Dogs Memorial at Mohr Park in Kokomo was held on Veterans Day. The statue honors the thousands of warrior dogs that put their lives on the line for the military’s safety serving as scouts, trackers, sentries and sniffing out mines, booby-traps, trip wires and tunnels. In fact, military war dogs are credited with saving over 10,000 lives during the Vietnam War.

The Kokomo Parks Department and Dog Daze Volunteers of Kokomo planned and erected the memorial as part of an ongoing effort to improve dog parks and to commemorate the thousands of war dogs who have served in the military since World War I.
