Indiana and Butler will play in the National Invitational Tournament.
Indiana is a No. 1 seed and will open against eighth-seeded Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Assembly Hall. Butler is a No. 5 seed and will face fourth-seeded Nebraska at 9 p.m. Wednesday in Lincoln, Nebraska. IU and Butler are on opposite sides of the 32-team bracket.
The IU-Saint Francis winner will face the Providence-Arkansas winner in the second round. The Butler-Nebraska winner will face the TCU-Sam Houston State winner. TCU is a No. 1 seed.
No. 1 seeds will host all games they play prior to the semifinals and title game in Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Hoosiers are 17-15. Saint Francis is 18-14. The Red Flash shared the Northeast Conference’s regular-season title with Fairleigh Dickinson. The Knights beat the Red Flash in the conference’s tourney title game.
Butler enters the NIT with a 16-16 record while Nebraska is 18-16.
