The River States Conference on Thursday named Indiana University Kokomo's Greg Cooper its Athletic Director of the Year. The award comes after a vote from his peers in the conference.
Cooper completed his fourth year at IUK at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Since being hired in June 2015, he has guided IU Kokomo to its current success. This past academic year featured many highlights for the Cougars as a banner year for the department.
IU Kokomo student-athletes earned an overall grade-point average of 3.14 for the school year. Athletically, the Cougars also achieved highly led by the volleyball and men's basketball teams reaching NAIA national tournaments.
The Cougars won the conference championship in volleyball, won the West Division in men's basketball, tied for the division lead in women's basketball and reached the league's baseball championship series after finishing third in the regular season.
Cooper has also been instrumental in IUK's Student Activities and Events Center, which has construction beginning this summer. He has also been in charge of the 21,000-square foot fitness center on campus.
