KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kokomo Jackrabbits dropped a pair of games to the Kalamazoo Growlers Friday. Kalamazoo won the opener 8-6 thanks to a five-run rally in the sixth inning, and the Growlers won the closer 6-0.
Kokomo held a 4-2 lead through five innings in the opener before Kalamazoo took over with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Jackrabbits rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh before the Growlers closed out the game.
Chase Keng and Ben Livorsi each homered for the Jackrabbits, and Austin Elder went 2 for 3.
Creede Jeffers took the loss, throwing all six innings. Only five runs were earned.
Kalamazoo took control of the second game early, scoring single runs in the first and second innings before adding four in the fifth.
The Jackrabbits had just two hits in the second game. Lucas Folmar started and took the loss, throwing four innings and allowing all six runs (five earned).
The Jackrabbits and Growlers play another doubleheader today, starting at 5:05 p.m.
