The Kokomo Jackrabbits scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings Thursday afternoon at Kokomo Municipal Stadium to beat the Madison Mallards 4-3 in Northwoods League action.
Kokomo scored twice in the first inning on an Austin Elder single and a Chase Hacker fielder’s choice, but Madison took the lead with a three-spot in the second inning and held the advantage until the sixth. Hacker knotted the game at 3-all with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the sixth. The Jackrabbits then took the lead an inning later when Logan Jarvis’ single plated Vinnie Costello with the eventual game-winner.
Starter Parker Sisovsky recovered from the three-run second inning to post a strong line despite not factoring in the decision. He threw six innings with eight hits, no walks, three earned runs and three strikeouts. Following him, three Kokomo relievers were perfect, combining on three no-hit, no-walk innings with six strikeouts.
Lucas Folmar threw the seventh for the win with two strikeouts. Matt DeYoung struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth, and Joey Haass threw the ninth for the save with one strikeout.
Kokomo plays a doubleheader at Kalamazoo starting at 5:05 p.m. today.
