The Kenosha Kingfish scored four runs in the top of the third inning and three more in the fifth to take control and went on to beat the Kokomo Jackrabbits 7-2 Wednesday night in Northwoods League action at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
The Jackrabbits rallied for a run in the bottom of the ninth and loaded the bases with one out, but Kenosha got a game-ending double-play to end the threat.
Denzel Clarke went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Rabbits, and Jeff Timko was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Talon File doubled
Owen Callaghan took the loss. Kokomo High School product Bayden Root threw 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with one hit and four strikeouts.
Great Lakes East Division rivals Kokomo (4-5) and Kenosha (4-5) square off again Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at KMS.
